Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan invites applications for a traditional undergraduate position in Kinesiology beginning fall 2018. The position is classified as a full-time tenure-track faculty position with faculty rank and base salary dependent upon educational and professional qualifications and experience. Candidates will be responsible for the primary task of teaching undergraduate courses offered as part of the Kinesiology major curriculum. The qualified candidate will be adaptable and capable of teaching courses including, but not limited to: Total Fitness and Wellness, Introduction to Nutrition, Motor Development and Learning, Measurement & Evaluation, Anatomical Kinesiology, Exercise Leadership, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Testing and Prescription, and First Aid. Other responsibilities include scholarly engagement in the candidate’s specialization area, academic advising and student recruitment. The candidate will also serve on committees and participate in official activities on the departmental, college, and university levels.
The following are the functions essential to performing this job.
Teach courses within the Kinesiology curriculum. Courses may vary by semester. See possible courses listed above.
Advise Kinesiology majors.
Supervise and influence student research projects and literature reviews.
Participate in University/College/Department/Professional committees.
Demonstrate, maintain, and continue professional competence and knowledge of subject matter.
The successful candidate will possess a relevant advanced degree, give evidence of scholarly potential, and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Required Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of an earned Master's degree or Doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or some other closely related field.
Commitment to excellence in teaching as evidenced by a presentation during a campus visit.
Ability to contribute to a positive work environment within the department.
A Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, or some other closely related field.
A minimum of 2-3 years full-time teaching experience at the college/university level in a related field.
Professional certifications from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA), or other relevant professional organizations.
Interest in working with a diverse population of undergraduate students.
