Southwest Baptist University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Biology beginning the fall 2018 semester
Position: Full-time Faculty (tenure-track), Department of Biology.
Job Description: *Teaching responsibilities will include 24 load hours per academic year
including courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology, other pre-health related
courses, and Principles of Biology
*Mentoring and advising undergraduate students
*Conduct research involving undergraduate students
*Participate in department and university affairs
Department: The Department of Biology is comprised of five full-time biologists. This new position represents an expansion of the department. The department is housed in the Wheeler Science Building and is part of the College of Science and Mathematics. Of the approximately 1400 undergraduate students enrolled on the Bolivar campus about 100 are biology majors.
Level: Assistant/Associate Professor
Qualifications: *An earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences or related field
*A commitment to teaching in an undergraduate, Christian liberal arts program
*Knowledge of his/her field with a record of scholarship and a willingness to
conduct research in an undergraduate setting
*Demonstrates an Evangelical Christian faith compatible with the mission of
Southwest Baptist University
Experience: *Teaching experience with documented excellence
*A track record of research and scholarly activity in the undergraduate setting
*A desire to mentor students in their coursework, research, and personal lives
*An interest and background in the successful integration of their Christian
faith with their discipline
