REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING, HEALTH, & WELLNESS
The Southeastern University Department of Counseling, Health, and Wellness announces an opening for a full-time, 10-month, Crisis Counselor, beginning in August 2017. The individual in this position will be a fully-licensed mental health professional who will carry a limited client load through the Campus Counseling Service’s clinic which operates from approximately 8-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The remainder of the Crisis Counselor’s work hours would be spent providing after-hours, weekend, and limited holiday support to students on Southeastern’s Lakeland campus. This counselor will work closely with Residence Life staff as well as Campus Security to safely support students experiencing mental health crises. Because of the need to respond to crises when the clinic is closed, the weekday schedule for this position will be flexible and tailored as much as possible to fit the needs of the professional in the position.
possess one of the following current Florida mental health licenses: Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Psychologist
reside no more than 15 minutes from Southeastern’s campus at 1000 Longfellow Blvd., Lakeland, FL
have relevant clinical experience with adolescents and/or young adults
enjoy working as a member of a team
have excellent communication skills (written and oral)
display excellent documentation skills with attention to detail
a significant amount of experience working with clients/patients experiencing mental health crises
prior experience treating students in a college setting
willingness to pursue continuing education on topics targeted to this position
